A variety of support programmes are organised each year to cater for both extension and remedial needs. All children’s progress is carefully monitored to ensure children succeed. We value the way children learn and our programmes are based on child centred learning principles.

Parents are kept informed of their child’s development as a three way partnership between school, child and parents makes for the best possible educational achievement.

Information Technology
All classrooms have computers which are integrated into the children’s learning programmes. In addition we have two computer suites for supervised groups of students to use. Students are able to use the Internet and e-mail.

Outdoor Education
Senior students at Adventure will have the opportunity to undertake a school camp. We offer a wide range of outdoor activities with Year 5/6 students undertaking a week long residential camp every second year and Year 7/8 students undertaking a South Island camp every second year (alternate to the Year 5/6 camp year). In addition to this tramps, hikes and trips are undertaken in a graded sequence according the children’s age.

Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP)
A movement programme that focuses on balance, fitness, eye/hand tracking to assist Year 1 to 2 children with the development of their motor skills, language development and sports.

Reading Enrichment
A literacy based programme designed to extend reading and writing skills for children experiencing difficulty.

Sports
Our emphasis is in kiwi sport, which is based on participation and skill development. Syndicates offer a daily programme of physical education and one sports afternoon a week. All sports are covered over the year. Provision is made for individual team, school wide and interschool sports. School teams also take part in annual touch, netball, cross country and volley ball competitions. In the winter Term netball and hockey teams represent the school in Saturday competitions. In the senior school optional sports such as tennis and fencing are available each year.

Swimming
Students have the opportunity to participate in a swimming programme. Our school uses the modern heated facilities of Naenae Pool for the senior students and local community pools for the juniors. The programme includes water confidence, swimming instruction and water safety training.
