Home Learning

Many students have busy lives outside of school. Home learning should not come at the expense of downtime, family time, or enriching activities like sport and hobbies. Balance is key, and wellbeing matters just as much as academic progress.

Home learning is an opportunity for whānau to support their children to

  • consolidate, revise, and practice skills learned in class
  • share what they are learning at school
  • understand learning happens everywhere, not just in the classroom

Home learning should never be a source of stress or frustration. If your child is finding it difficult or becoming upset, it’s perfectly okay to pause, take a break, or leave the task for another time.

What This Looks Like Across the School

Kōwhai Team  (Yrs 1-2)

Kōwhai students have a designated pocket to keep their home-learning  organised and accessible.  Each week they will bring home at least one or two targeted activities linked to current learning goals. These reinforce learning in a fun and interactive way that whānaua can be involved with.

Nīkau Team (Yrs 3-4)

Nīkau students can access their home learning through Google Classroom. These tasks are optional and are designed to reinforce learning, offer additional practice, and reflect the content covered in our classes. New home learning sheets will be added regularly.

To access Google Classroom, students need to log into their device using their school email:  @adventure.school.nz

Rimu Team (Yrs 5-6)

Students in Rimu can access their home learning through the Rimu Home Learning Google Classroom. These tasks are designed to reinforce concepts being explored at school and offer opportunities for whānau and children to learn together. They are entirely optional and can be completed in a way that suits your family’s routines and commitments.

To access Google Classroom, students need to log into their device using their school email:  @adventure.school.nz

Tōtara Team (Yrs 7-8)

Home Learning for the Tōtara Syndicate is accessible via Google Classroom. Your child can log in using their school account.

Home Learning supports the programmes already in place at school, including reading, maths, typing, and spelling. There will also be opportunities to access units of Inquiry.

All relevant links and resources can be found in your child’s Google Classroom.
